UNLAWNING AMERICA: A CALL TO INACTION

More than 40 million acres of the United States is lawn. How much do we really Need?

“Unlawning America” is designed to make ecologically harmful landscaping practices more visible and less ordinary to us. The works designed for this project model alternatives to maintaining mowed grass. Perhaps more importantly, they are designed to frame non-lawn green spaces as ecologically and aesthetically valuable, challenging our deeply seated perceptions and reminding us that they were established through cultural traditions and questionable beliefs.
